Percorsi nel Carso Rurale
Gemina “Percorsi nel Carso Rurale” è un sentiero ciclopedonale che da Malchina raggiunge Col collegando gli abitati carsici attraverso strade poderali e vie secondarie, utilizzate in passato da contadini e pastori.
Il sentiero è percorribile a piedi, in bicicletta o a cavallo ed è ben segnalato lungo tutto il suo percorso da cartelli con frecce verdi su fondo giallo, così da poterlo seguire in entrambe le direzioni.
Sui cartelli si trovano informazioni tanto sulla flora e sulla fauna carsiche, quanto sulle attività artigianali e sulle aziende del territorio.
Gemina consente di scoprire il cuore del paesaggio carsico tra la landa, i boschi, i vigneti, gli uliveti, le grotte, i castellieri, le doline, e gli stagni, per osservare e godere della natura e per attraversare i territori coltivati, scoprendo la creatività e la laboriosità delle genti del Carso.
Lungo il sentiero, in prossimità degli abitati, si incontrano le fontanelle per l’acqua, le fermate dei bus urbani, agriturismi e i tipici ristori carsici, le osmize.
Percorrere Gemina è un ottimo modo per conoscere il territorio carsico in stretto contatto con la natura e la storia del luogo.
Il nome del sentiero deriva da quello dell’antica strada romana che da Aquileia, oltrepassato il Timavo, risaliva l’altipiano carsico per raggiungere Tarsatica (Fiume-Rijeka). In prossimità di Prosecco si staccava un’altra via che proseguiva per Trieste e l’Istria.

Gemina (Poti podeželskega Krasa) je kolesarska steza in pešpot, ki vodi od Mavhinj do Cola in povezuje več kraških zaselkov. Trasa je speljana po glavnih cestah in stezah, ki so jih v preteklosti uporabljali kmetje in pastirji. Pot, na katero se lahko podamo peš, s kolesom ali na konju, je ustrezno označena s tablami in zelenimi smerokazi na rumeni podlagi. Oznake vodijo v obe smeri. Na tablah najdemo podatke o kraškem rastlinstvu in živalstvu, lokalni obrti in podjetništvu. Gemina nam omogoča, da odkrivamo osrčje kraškega sveta – gmajne, gozdove, vinograde, oljčne nasade, jame, gradišča, vrtače in mlake (kale). Tu lahko opazujemo naravo in uživamo v njej. Pot nas popelje tudi mimo obdelanih območij, kjer lahko spoznavamo ustvarjalnost in marljivost kraških ljudi. Ob trasi, v bližini naselij, najdemo pitnike, postajališča lokalnega potniškega prometa, turistične kmetije in značilne kraške okrepčevalnice – osmice. Sprehod po stezi Gemina je odlična priložnost za spoznavanje Krasa ob tesnem stiku z naravno in zgodovinsko dediščino tega prostora. Ime Gemina izhaja iz rimskih časov, ko je pot vodila iz Ogleja preko Timave in kraške planote do antične Tarsatice (današnje Reke na Hrvaškem). V bližini Proseka se je od glavne prometnice odcepila cesta, ki je vodila proti Trstu (Tergeste) in Istri.

The Gemina “Routes in the Rural Karst” is a cycle path and footpath that runs between Malchina-Mavhinje and Col, connecting the settlements in the Karst along tracks and secondary roads that were used in the past by farmers and shepherds. The path can be traveled on foot, by bike or on horseback and is well marked along its entire route by signs with green arrows on a yellow background, so that you can follow it in both directions. On the signs you will find information on the Karst’s flora and fauna, as well as on the activities of local artisans and businesses. The Gemina path lets the visitor discover the heart of the Karst landscape amidst its dry grasslands, the so-called landa, its woods, vineyards and olive groves, its caves and hillforts, sinkholes, and ponds, observing and enjoying nature while moving across the Karst farmland, discovering the creativity and industriousness of its people. Along the path, close to the settlements, there are drinking fountains for water, bus stops to reach the city, farmhouses and the typical Karst eateries, the osmize. Travelling the Gemina route is an excellent way to get to know the Karst while being in close contact with its nature and history. The name of the path comes from that of the ancient Roman road that, coming from Aquileia and after crossing the Timav near Duino, went up onto the Karst plateau to reach Tarsatica (today the city of Rijeka in Croatia). Close to Prosecco another road branched off that continued towards Tergeste (today’s Trieste) and on to Istria.

Der Gemina „Routen im ländlichen Karst“ ist ein Rad- und Wanderweg, der von Malchina-Mavhinje nach Col führt. Er verbindet die Karstdörfer über Feld- und Nebenwege, die in der Vergangenheit von Bauern und Hirten genutzt wurden. Der Weg kann zu Fuß, mit dem Fahrrad oder zu Pferd zurückgelegt werden und ist auf der gesamten Strecke gut sichtbar mit grünen Pfeilen auf gelbem Grund markiert, so dass er in beide Richtungen zurückgelegt werden kann. Die Schilder geben Auskunft über die Flora und Fauna des Karsts sowie über das örtliche Handwerk und die ansässigen Unternehmen. Der Gemina-Weg verläuft durch das Kernstück der Karstlandschaft: Heideflächen, Wälder, Weinberge, Olivenhaine, Höhlen, Castellieri, Dolinen und Teiche wechseln sich ab und laden ein, die Natur zu erkunden und genießen, während bewirtschaftete Felder von der Kreativität und dem Fleiß der Karstbewohner zeugen. In der Nähe der Ortschaften kommt man an Trinkbrunnen, Bushaltestellen, touristisch bewirtschafteten Bauernhöfen und den im Karst typischen Buschenschanken, den Osmize, vorbei. Der Gemina ist eine hervorragende Möglichkeit, die Karstregion und deren Geschichte in engem Kontakt mit der Natur kennenzulernen. Der Name des Weges leitet sich von der antiken römischen Straße ab, die von Aquileia über den Timavo-Fluss und weiter auf die Karsthochebene führte und schließlich in Tarsatica (Fiume-Rijeka) endete. In der Nähe von Prosecco zweigte eine weitere Straße ab, die nach Tergeste (Triest) und Istrien führte.
